Steve Kaplan is an experienced labor and employment lawyer who aggressively represents employees, unions and occasionally employers in a wide variety of work-related matters, including wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment, jury trial litigation and arbitration, collective bargaining, and administrative hearings before government agencies like the National Labor Relations Board and Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
Steve’s practice runs the entire spectrum of labor and employment law, and includes class action wage and hour lawsuits, union democracy disputes, mass layoff litigation, and contract negotiations for executive employees.
Steve’s practice also emphasizes mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. He has settled scores of individual and class actions for six and seven figures.
Steve was counsel in several precedent setting appeals, including cases before the United States Supreme Court and California Supreme Court. He is a frequent speaker and author on labor and employment law subjects, and served as the 2004-2005 Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section. Steve was named a “Southern California Super Lawyer” every year since 2005, and in 2010 was inducted into the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers.
